Dover was shelled between ll a.m. and 1.15 p.m. on October 20th. There~ was no naval or military damage. The French cruiser "Jeanne d'Arc" and the aircraft carrier "Bearn" sailed from Martinique on afternoon of October 18th destination unknown. 2. Royal Air Force. Night of October 20th/21st. Aircraft attacked targets as follows. Docks and shipping at Antwerp, Rotterdam, Flushing, Dunkirk and Ostend, at Antwerp and Flushing fires seen in target areas; aerodromes at Hingene, Foret de Ouines, St. 0met, Wesel, Eindhoven, Buer, Schipol and two unidentified, bursts seen in target areas "Bismarck" at Hamburg fires and large explosions seen from reported position of the battleship; "Tirpitz" at Wilhelmshaven, ship not seen but fires and explosions observed in target area; aluminum works at Grevenbroich, many large fires; Koln aluminum works synthetic oil plant and electric power station explosions and fires; factories at Bottrop and Essen; synthetic oil plant and railway junction at Gelsenklrchen several fires and explosions; warehouses at Duisberg and lighted building at Hatigen fires resulting; Pirelli works at Milan and Peni and subsidiary/ |
