4. Summary of Air Casualties.

5. Shipping Casualties.
 
      By U-boat. It is known that an Esthonian ship (1200 tons) was 
      torpedoed and sunk in the northwestern approaches on October 
      13th. A British ship (5400 tons) and a Norwegian ship (5800 tons), 
      were torpedoed and sunk while in outward bound convoy in the 
      northwestern approaches on October 20th; 31 survivors from the 
      former and I from the latter have been picked up.
 
      A convoy of 21 ships has arrived in United Kingdom ports. Cargoes 
      included crude oil, 3 of iron ore and 2 of steel.

. Middle East.
 
      Egypt and Libya. On October 21st 3 Blenheims attacked a water 
      pipe line near Sollum, Water tanks were straddled and 2 groups 
      of mechanical transport were hit. Two Hurricanes inflicted casualties 
      on an enemy working party and destroyed 6 mechanical transport.
 
      During the night of October 21st-22nd about 9 enemy aircraft 
      bombed the Alexandria area. Some grounded aircraft were damaged 
      in Aboukir.
 
      Eritrea. Buildings were hit and a fire was started at Asmara 
      during an attack by our aircraft on the night of October 20th- 
      21st.
