My dear Franklin, Thank you very much for your letter of July 10 sending me the most interesting naval signatures and papers relating to some early Churchill's, together with the visiting card signed by my Father in 1886 when, as you know, he was Chancellor of the Exchequer. Much as I should like to keep the naval documents myself, I feel that the Admiralty should have them for their permanent records, and I am accordingly sending them to the First L I am very glad to have the papers about the early Churchill's, that contain a fine signature of Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough. There were two Generals named Charles Churchill. The first was the brother of the first Duke of Marlborough, and was his General of Infantry throughout his great campaigns.
