     The Japanese made a sudden attempt to break the center of our lines in 
Luzon with no success whatsoever. Sporadic fighting has been carried on along 
the whole line. There has been heavy artillery fire.  Activity in the air has 
been negligible. Nothing of special interest is reported from Mindia.
